Pediatric Oncology Experimental Therapeutics Investigators' Consortium (POETIC) seeks to address the challenges of access to new therapies for children with cancer and encourages innovative collaboration among physicians, scientists and other health care providers in the field of pediatric oncology. The bi-annual POETIC conference provides an the opportunity for POETIC members and colleagues to share POETIC Study progress, present their current research, learn and collaborate.
A non-profit organization founded in 2003 by Dr. Tanya Trippett at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), POETIC is comprised of 10 institutions throughout the United States and Canada. By creating a network of affiliates close to POETIC institutions, the consortium strengthens the ability to reach more children at or near their medical homes, improve fair and equitable access to novel treatments, and lessen psychosocial and financial toxicity for patients and families.
In 2020, POETIC transitioned to Stanford Pediatrics Hematology Oncology department and is led by Dr. Norman Lacayo, POETIC Director. Since that time, our team has continued the work of finding new ways to motivate and inspire POETIC members to advance the early clinical development of promising therapies for children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer and related disorders.
